Minnesota Occupational Salary Survey Data

Minnesota's largest and most comprehensive salary survey, with the latest information on occupational wages and employment, is now available on the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development's Labor Market Information website. The highest-paying occupations continue to be those in the management, legal, and computer professional fields, where most jobs pay over $30 per hour. Information on 770 detailed occupations is now online at www.mnwfc.org/lmi/oes/. Comparable results for the 50 states and 330 metro areas nationwide can be found at www.SalarySurvey.org. The Occupational Employment Statistics (OES) program conducts an annual mail survey designed to produce estimates of employment and wages for over 790 occupations. These estimates are generated at the national, state, and metropolitan statistical area levels. The current estimates have a reference date of the fourth quarter of 2001, and wage levelsare then updated using the Employment Cost Index(ECI) for the appropriate occupational division.

For the third year, occupations are defined by the newly revised Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) Sytem. National estimates are derived from responses from 1,200,000 business establishments, while state estimates are based on responses from over 22,000 establishments.
