Enhancing Access to Graduate Nursing Education
Abstract:
The graduate faculty in the School of Nursing is using a hybrid model to develop a series of web-based courses to prepare students for a graduate degree with a Family Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist focus. The online initiative will support delivery of graduate nursing education to an expanded, primarily rural, geographical region in order to meet the goals of increasing years of healthy life and eliminating health disparities, promoting healthy behaviors, protecting health, assuring access to quality health care and strengthening community prevention

Technical Communication
Abstract:
The Technical Communication program will get approval of two new certificates, one undergraduate and one graduate, which will be offered exclusively online beginning Fall, 2004. A sufficient number of courses will be offered (three per semester) so students will be able to complete the programs in two years. In addition to developing online courses, a substantial amount of energy will go into marketing the programs, statewide (especially as collaboration with other Minnesota State institutions), regionally, and eventually nationally.

An E-Learning Teacher Licensure Program
Abstract:
The purpose of this proposal is to request funding for the continual development and U-compass implementation of an e-learning based teacher licensure program to address the teacher shortages within Minnesota. The existing standards based teaching licensure programs (Post-Baccalaureate and Master of Arts in Teaching) already have e-learning components and the framework, and content needed to move from the current hybrid model to a more intensively e-learning format. The Educational Studies: K-12 and Secondary Programs (KSP) will deliver a hybrid e-learning teacher licensure program (12-24 months) for individuals entering the teaching profession with an existing bachelor's degree. The structure of the hybrid program consists of three components, what the candidate does on the MSU campus, in the K-12 environment, and through web-based instruction.
Online Library Media Information (LITE) Program
Abstract:
In order to address the school library media shortages within Minnesota and the nation, as well as the mandates of the No Child Left Behind mandates, the Library Media Information Program (LITE) will deliver a hybrid (with minimal face-to-face time, and some of that at off-campus sites) initial licensure program and a Masters in Library Media Education.
